Founded in 1531 by a Velahanka Prabhu chieftain,
Kempegowda, and under enlightened rulers like
Tipu Sultan & Wodeyars, Bangalore blossomed into
one of Asia's fastest growing cities. It has a
salubrious climate with innumerable parks,
gardens, lakes & tree lined avenues giving it
the sobriquet 'garden city'. Bangalore is also
known as Silicon Valley of India for its
software industry. It is multifaceted : major
industrial & commercial center, historic
monuments, shopping plazas, bustling pubs, race
course, golf courses, rustling silks, fragrant
sandalwood and friendly people. |
