Shopping

Jodhpur is especially known for its shopping and its wholesale and export operations. Many European and North American dealers bypass other cities in India and come directly to Jodhpur for most of their shopping. In response to export markets, many of the factories and shops here design furniture and metal work products that are geared to Western tastes. The best shopping is found along the main roads of the new city. Even though the old city is an interesting cultural experience, don't expect to do much shopping there. The central market, or Ghasmandi Bazaar, is very popular with visitors. But the really good stuff is found outside the city walls.
