Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery (Mysore)
The Art Gallery in the Jaganmohan Palace in Mysore has a unique
collection of ceramics, sandalwood, ivory, stone, antique
furniture and ancient musical instruments. Paintings by reputed
artists like Ravi Varma and Roerich, as well as the traditional
Mysore gold leaf paintings, are also on display
Visveswaraya Industrial and Technological
Museum (Bangalore)
Dedicated to the memory of Sir M. Visveswaraya, the architect of
modern Karnataka, the museum provides a brief history of
technological development in the country and houses many technical
inventions.
Timings: 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. daily, except on Republic Day
(26th January) and Independence Day (15th August.)
Government Museum & Art Gallery
(Bangalore)
Established in 1886, this beautiful structure with splendid
Corinthian Columns, houses a wonderful collection of
archaeological and geological artifacts and old jewellery.
Timing:09.00 hrs to 18.00 hrs. Closed on Wednesdays and Public
holidays. Found here is a splendid collection relating to
archaeology, geology, art and numismatics.
Antiquities from Mohenjodaro take visitors back to the India of
5000 years ago when it was the cradle of a great civilization.
Rail Museum (Mysore)
Located behind the railway station is the little-known but
impressive Rail Museum with its priceless locomotives, coaches and
collection of paintings and photographs narrating the ‘Rail
Story.’ The prize exhibit of the museum is the Maharani’s Saloon
built in the U.K |
