Chor Minar is also known as Tower of Thieves is basically a 13th century minaret comprising of 225 holes. It is located in the HAuz Khas area of the capital. The minaret was constructed under the reign of the popular Khilji ruler, Alauddin Khalji. As per a legend, this place was actually meant for beheading the thieves. The severed heads were put on display on a spear through the 225 holes so that the thieves deterred from indulging in such acts.
