Itinenary
Arrive in Cochin (Kochi)
As you arrive at Cochin, the tour representative will pick you up and transfer you to a beautiful resort known as Coconut Lagoon. Located on the banks of Lake Vemband, one of Indias largest inland lakes, this resort is a pure bliss for all travellers. It is set on a wild coconut plantation in the middle of the fascinating Kerala backwaters and has been designed to give the tourists an insight into the Kuttanad life. After relaxing for a while, you will be taken for a sunset cruise on a Rice Boat. The serene waters and quiet environs of the backwaters will leave you spellbound. You will also be served with a range of delectable snacks on the boat as you witness the gorgeous sun fade away. As you return back to the resort, you will be welcomed with an elaborate and scrumptious dinner buffet. Overnight stay at the resort.
Cochin
Next morning after breakfast, you will take a short cruise to Philip Kuttys Farm, a small farmhouse on the backwaters with lush greenery on both sides. Here, you can witness the cultivation of many different varieties of tropical fruits and vegetables. A stroll at the fields will help you come across the local Kerala cultivation. Following this, you will attend an interesting cooking class, where the chef will demonstrate some simple techniques for home cooking. As you return to Coconut Lagoon, you will have another cooking class waiting for you followed by an exquisite lunch. At night, there is a cultural show at the resort followed by dinner. Overnight stay at the resort.
Cochin
After breakfast, you will get a cooking demonstration class that will include the preparation of Sadhya, Kerala wedding feast. It is an elaborate meal with at least 20 different dishes that are all vegetarian. You will learn to prepare dishes like Sambar, Paruppu, Pachadi and Kichadi, Thoran, Avial, Olan, Pappadam, Rasam, Payasam, and more. The lunch will be Sadhya, which is served on banana leaf. This is supposed to be eaten by hand. In the evening, you can relax at the property and gather at night to attend the cultural show followed by dinner. Overnight stay at the resort.
Drive from Cochin to Periyar
In the morning after breakfast, you will travel from Cochin to Periyar by road, which will take approximately 3 hours. Upon reaching, the tour representative will take you to your chosen hotel and assist with the chick-in process. You can have lunch at the hotel and rest for some time. At night, you will be taken for a Boat Safari in Lake Periyar, which is an amazing experience for all nature and wildlife enthusiasts. You can spot herds of elephants grazing near the edges of the shorelines and witness animals like wild boars, deer, gaur and sambar flocking around. You will be served some excellent snacks during the ride. After this wonderful experience, you will return to your hotel for dinner. Overnight stay at Periyar.
Periyar
Periyar is a quaint town blessed with amazing varieties of flora and fauna. On the 5th day of your tour, you will visit the incredible Spice and Tea plantations at Periyar. As you walk through the spice farms, you will come across a myriad of different spices and see how they are cultivated. After this, you can enjoy your stroll through the popular tea plantations and meet the people working at these plantations. After returning to the hotel, you can enjoy a nice and elaborate lunch buffet. Later in the afternoon, there will be a cooking class, where you will do cooking with a lot of different spices. Dinner and overnight stay at Periyar.
Periyar
Next early morning, you will leave for your tour to the Spice Village to check out the different varieties of spice plants growing there. As you reach back, you can have your breakfast and freshen up for a demo cookery class. Again you will learn about different techniques of South Indian food cooking as well as the use of different spices in different dishes. This will be followed by lunch. In the evening, you can take a walk down the town of Periyar and visit the spice shops here. Dinner and overnight stay at Periyar.
Drive from Periyar to Cochin
After breakfast, you check out from the hotel and embark upon the road journey to Cochin. On the way, you will stop at the plantation bungalow for a nice home-like lunch. Post lunch, you will complete your remaining journey to Cochin. After checking in at Brunton Boatyard hotel, you can either relax or step out to the explore the beautiful city. Dinner and overnight stay at Cochin.
Cochin
Cochin is a bustling port city with an interesting history that dates back to at least 600 years. It is also referred to as the Queen of Arabian Sea. The place bears strong influences from the Arabs, Portuguese, Chinese, Dutch and Phoenicians. It is replete with many siginificant places of tourist interest such as Jewish Synagogue, Mattancherry Palace, Willingdon Island, Chinese Fishing Nets and much more. Also, visit the ancient Spice Market in Mattancherry. Finally, proceed to your hotel for an exquisitely organized themed lunch. You can rest for some time before you attend the spectacular Kathakali dance event followed by dinner. Overnight stay at Cochin.
Cochin
This is your last day in Cochin. You can relax at the hotel premises or set out to explore the beautiful city on your own. In the evening, there will be a special hands-on cookery class organised for you with the hotel itself. It will introduce you with many different techniques of cooking Kerala food. You can rest in the evening and gather at night for a special farewell dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay will be at Cochin.
Departure
The tour representative will transfer you to the railway station or airport from where you can commence your onwards journey.
