Day 01

Arrive in Kolkata

The tour representative will come to pick you up from the airport or the railway station. From here you will be transferred to your chosen hotel in accordance to your budget. After resting for a while you will begin to visit different places of tourist interest in Kolkata. Visit the Victoria Memorial which is renowned museum for Indian art and history. After that proceed to see Howrah Bridge which is a 2300 foot cantilever bridge and an important landmark of the city. In the evening return back to the hotel where you can enjoy your dinner. There are several wonderful eating places in Kolkata. Overnight stay is in the hotel.

Day 02

Kolkata Sightseeing

In the morning after having your breakfast you must check out from the hotel and then visit the Dakshineshwar Kali Temple which is a 19th century temple complex. Also visit the Indian Museum which was built way back in 1814 and contains an exquisite collection of antiques, fossils and Mughal paintings. Other key places to visit are Birla Planetarium, Belur Math, Fort William etc. If you still have time you can do some shopping in the popular shopping areas of the city. Late in the evening you can leave for the railway station where you will board the train for Darjeeling. Overnight is on board.

You will reach Darjeeling by afternoon. The journey is long and the tour representative will come to pick you up from the station from where you will be transferred to a five star hotel. Darjeeling is a beautiful hill station known for its jaw dropping beauty. Its untouched beauty, old world charm, verdant tea plantations all attract tourists to this wonderful place. This hill town spans an area of just 10 square kilometers. Visit the Ghum Monastery which is a famous 19th century Tibetan Monastery. You must also visit Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park where you can see endangered species of animals such as snow leopards and red pandas. Overnight is in the hotel.

Day 04

Darjeeling Sightseeing

You can proceed for sightseeing of Darejeeling. Visit the Peace Pagoda which is basically a Buddhist temple known for its ornate carving and majestic valley view. Visit the Happy Valley Tea Estate where you will be shown harvesting as well as processing process of the tea leaves. If you are fond of adventure you must try rock climbing etc at Tenzing Rock. They even organize for the beginners so you will not have any problem even if you are a novice. You can also visit the Darjeeling Rangeet Valley Passenger Ropeway where you will have panoramic view of the tea gardens. Overnight stay is in the hotel.

Day 05

Drive Darjeeling to Pemayangtse/Pelling (74 kms)

In the morning you will leave in prepaid taxi to Pemanyangste. It roughly takes 3 to 4 hours to reach depending on weather and road conditions. Once you reach Pemanyangste you will check into the hotel of your choice. After brief period of rest you must visit the Pemanyangste Monastery which has a lot of spiritual and religious significance. Buddha Temple here is a haven for peace lovers. You can sit and meditate here. After this you can proceed to visit the Rabdentse ruins. You have to buy tickets to enter the area. Dense forest and lovely weather enhance the experience and take you a different world altogether. Overnight stay is in the hotel.

Day 06

Drive Pemayangtse to Gangtok (117 kms)

In the morning you will leave for Gangtok on a pre-paid taxi. The journey takes around 4 to 5 hours. You will reach Gangtok by later afternoon and then check into hotel of your choice. Gangtok is the capital of state of Sikkim. It is a very important Buddhist pilgrimage site. After resting for a while you must visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology which is a museum as well as a library about the Tibetan culture. You can also visit Enchey Monastery which is tranquil Buddhist monastery located on top of the hill. Overnight stay is in the hotel.

Day 07

Gangtok Sightseeing

In the morning after having your breakfast you can visit the Hanuman Tok which is a colorful Hindu Temple which offers scenic views of the mountains. This temple is maintained by Indian army. You must also visit Ganesh Tok which is located on top of the hill and even has an observation deck. If wildlife attracts you, visit the Sikkim Hamalyan Zoological Park where you can see wide range of flora and fauna. It is a huge park, you will need a lot of time if you wish to see it all. In the evening you will return back to the hotel. Overnight is in the hotel.

Day 08

Sightseeing in Gangtok

In the morning after having your breakfast you can check out adventure sport activities in Gangtok. Do some river rafting in the Teesta River. This is actually an adrenalin pumping experience where you get to maneuver your way though rapids. You can even book a paragliding tour which will offer you breathtaking views of the mountains. Paragliding is done at Tashi View Point and Bojoghari Village. If you are a sucker for some more thrill try hand gliding. It makes you feel like a bird. The first timers should go in for piloted flights. In the evening return to the hotel. Overnight is at the hotel

Day 09

Gangtok to New Jalpaiguri to Kolkata

In the morning you will check-out from the hotel and leave for the railway station in order to catch the train for Kolkata on time. The train journey from Gangtok to Kolkata is pretty long. You will get your meals on board and the entire day you will be in the train. Get your train tickets booked well in advance otherwise you might face booking problems later on. In the morning you will reach Kolkata where the tour representative will come to pick you up from the station. Overnight is on board.

Day 10

Kolkata Sightseeing

In the morning you will reach Kolkata where you will again check into your favorite hotel. After resting for a while you can step for shopping. You get everything from tea to textiles in Kolkata. Visit the Garihat Market which is long road with shops lined on both sides. If you want to buy handicraft items and artifacts you must visit the Dakshinapan Shopping Center where you will find everything at affordable rates. Kolkata has always been popular for tea. One of the best places for tea shopping is Karma Kettle in Ballygunge Place. Overnight is in the hotel****

Day 11


This marks the conclusion of your East India Tour which takes you thorough different cities in the East which offers some of the best sights.
