Morning visit the Jain Temple, Zoological Gardens, Victoria Memorial & drive past Howrah Bridge, Dalhousie Square, Fort Williams, Secretariat Building and Old Court House Street. Check out 12noon. Later transfer to railway station to board overnight train to Gaya. Overnight on board.
Arrive Gaya and staright drive to Bodhgaya. Check in at hotel. Afternoon visit Bodhgaya. As the place of the Buddha's Enlightenment, Bodhgaya is the spiritual home of Buddhists. Bodhgaya situated near the river Niranjana, is one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage centers since it was here that Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. Later proceed for sightseeing including Mahabodhi Temple, Sujata Village, and Monasteries of different country around the city. Overnight at hotel.
Drive to Patna visiting Rajgir and Nalanda. Rajgir, whose hills are known for a large number of Buddhists and Jain monuments; Pawapuri, where Mahavira, the founder of Jainism, attained enlightment. The Nalanda University, once a prominent seat of learning. Later drive to Patna and check in at hotel.
Drive to Varanasi enroute visiting Vaishali. Buddha first visited Vaishali in the fifth year after his Enlightenment, and spent the rainy season here. It is the palace where Gautama Buddha delivered his last sermon at Vaishali and announced his Parinirvana. Visit Ananda Stupa, and Asokan pillar at Kolhua, Vaishali. Later drive to Varanasi and check in at hotel.
Early morning boat excursion on the river Ganges, a ferry pilgrimage from ghat to ghat. People bathe early in the morning to offer the prayers to the rising sun. The two cremation ghats are Manikarnika & Harishchandra where funeral pyre burns day and night. Every pious Hindu believes that to die in Kashi and to be cremated on banks of the Ganges is to attain release from the cycle of birth and death. Afternoon visit Sarnath - the buried Buddhist city where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon, Sarnath was a renowned school of learning from 6th century B.C. to 12th century AD. Visit the ruins, the stupa, the Buddhist temple and the Museum (Museum closed on Fridays).
Drive to Kushinagar. Check in at hotel. Kushinagar is named after the sacred death-place of Lord Buddha. At Kushinagar, Lord Buddha, an apostle of peace, compassion and non-violence, attained Mahaparinirvana (Salvation) in 483 BC. Day free for own activities.
Morning visit Kushinagar. The two places most frequently visited in Kushinagar are the Mahaparinirvana Stupa, which is built on the place of Buddha's Mahaparinirvana (Great Nirvana or passing away), and the place of his cremation, which is 1.6 km away. Close to the Mahaparinirvana Stupa is located a 1500 year old image of Buddha as he attained Parinirvana. The Mahaparinirvana Stupa is surrounded by ruins of ancient monasteries. Afternoon drive to Lumbini and check in at hotel. Lumbini is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Rupandehi district of Nepal, near the Indian border. It is the place where Queen Mayadevi is said to have given birth to Siddhartha Gautama.
Morning visit Lumbini. It has a number of temples, including the Mayadevi temple and the Ashokan Pillar. South of the Ashokan Pillar, there is the famous sacred pool Puskarnia believed to be the same sacred pool in which Maya Devi took a holy dip just before giving birth to the Lord and also where infant Buddha was given his first purification bath. Later half day excursion of Kapilvastu. Located 27 km. west of Lumbini lies the ruins of historic town of Kapilvastu. Believed to be the capital of Shakya republic where the Lord lived and enjoyed his life until his thirteeth year.
Drive to Sravasti and check in at hotel. Afternoon visit Sravasti. It is believed that Sravasti, also known as Sahet-Mahet, was founded by the legendary king Sravast. This place is important from Buddhism point of view because Lord Buddha performed a number of miracles here. It was in Sravasti that He displayed a million fold manifestation of himself. He was seated on a lotus (with thousand petals), with fire and water radiating from His body.
Drive to Lucknow railway station to board train for New Delhi. Arrive and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Morning Visit Raj Ghat - the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi and, Jama Masjid and drive past Red Fort and Chandni Chowk. Afternoon tour of New Delhi. Visit Qutab Minar, Humayun's Tomb, India Gate, Lakshminarayan Temple - a modern Hindu Temple. Drive past President's House, Government Secretariat buildings and Connaught place shopping centre of New Delhi.
