If anyone asks me what is the most beautiful thing in Delhi then my answer would be Humayun's Tomb. Yes, this is one of the marvellous buildings that still exist in Delhi. Well, there are more than a thousand monuments in Delhi but I did not find anything more attractive than it.

Let me explain to you why you must visit this place while staying in Delhi.

Humayun's Tomb was built in the memory of Mughal Emperor Humayun, who died in 1556. He had two wife's and his elder wife Banu Begum started the construction in 1565 and was completed in 1571.

I have visited this place many times, but my eyes never tired of gazing at this beautiful building. Hope you have heard the name of Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders in the universe and the most interesting fact that the design of the Taj Mahal was taken from Humayun's Tomb. The building was constructed of red stones which attracts tourists from all corners of the world.

It was chosen as a World Heritage Site in 1993 and after that it was seen the increment in the number of tourists each year.

All maintenance is under Archaeological Survey Of India (ASI) and due to their hard work this building still shines. If you are coming from outside of Delhi then the nearest airport is Indira Gandhi international airport from here, you may hire a cab/taxi to reach or if you have their own vehicle so no worries as there is a huge parking area outside the main entry gate. There is an entry fee for all nationals and after entering you will definitely like to see the graveyard of Hamida Begum, who was Akbar's mother, Dara Shikoh who was the son of Shah Jahan and Bahadur Shah II who was the last Mughal Emperor along with many soldiers. The Garden of the tomb is so beautiful and the same you can see in the Taj Mahal.

The complex is huge and it takes a minimum one hour to visit. If you would like to hear the complete story, you may hire a local guide in advance. Well, there are no eateries inside this place so you have to buy something from outside the main gate.

I would definitely recommend you to visit this special thing of Delhi and I am pretty sure it will make your day memorable.
