History in Barh

Barh is a city in the Patna district in the state of Bihar, India. It is located on the Ganges River, 34 miles south-east of Patna Fatuha is one of the 20 blocks of Barh. It is about 25 kilometres east of Patna, lying on the banks of the Ganges River and is the confluence of the Punpun river and Ganges. Its well connected by trains and road. The sayings as per the locals goes that it was known as "PATWA" due to the large numbers of patwas or weavers living in here. The name gradually changed during the colonial rule as per their pronunciation. The nearest airport is Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Airport. Barh has popular sweets called "Laai". In terms of mythology it has got a great importance because river Ganga flows from south to north (Utraain Ganga). Hindi, Urdu, Angika, Bhojpuri, Magahi, Maithili are the languages spoken.
